Electrically regenerated diesel particulate filter for light and medium duty engines.

CHILI^® filters are intelligent emission control systems for light to medium duty machines and vehicles like forklifts, mini excavators, street sweepers and vans. CHILI^® is an active system using electricity to raise the filter temperature to the optimal level for regeneration. CHILI^®'s operations are continuosly controlled and diagnosed by a control unit and do not require any attention from the driver.

		On-board regeneration - no downtimes Including an onboard regeneration system, CHILI® cleans itself during the driving by heating the filter elements electrically. This means no time-wasting downtimes for cleaning the emission system in workshops. CHILI® is at its best in diesel engines up to 130 kW.

Operation principle

The intelligent CHILI^® offers a unique reliability based on several sintered metal filter elements and self-maintenance: when a filter needs regeneration, exhaust gases pass through other filters. The filter itself serves as a resistive heater that draws the power needed for regeneration from the machine's electrical system.  CHILI^® adapts the regeneration to the operation routines, not only time-based but continuously measuring the back pressure and only initiating the regeneration when necessary. At the same time, CHILI^® gains high PM reduction rates cost-efficiently.

Step 1: Exhaust gas goes through all 3 filter elements.

Step 2: First element regenerates. Exhaust gas goes through second and third filter elements.

Step 3: Second element regenerates. Exhaust gas goes through first and third filter elements.

Step 4: Third element regenerates. Exhaust gas goes through first and second filter elements.
