Proventia, a technology company based in Oulu, Finland, has agreed a contract with Intertek Transportation Technologies for the delivery of a modular electric vehicle testing centre. The contract includes the design, delivery and deployment of an entire testing centre in Milton Keynes, England.  This will be the largest independent automotive electric vehicle powertrain testing facility in the UK.  The delivery begins in spring 2020.

Intertek Transportation Technologies is part of Intertek Group, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide.  Intertek’s network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices and over 44,000 people in more than 100 countries delivers assurance, testing, inspection and certification solutions to customers and their supply chains.

“In recent years we have invested heavily in the development of electric vehicle testing systems.  The ultra-modern modular testing centre that will now be built will enable the comprehensive testing of entire electric vehicles as well as their powertrain and individual components. This is a major project for us, further strengthening Proventia’s position as a supplier of vehicle testing systems. The test laboratories will be designed and built at our factory in Oulu. The project will employ dozens of people in the Oulu area, and will also require us to recruit new employees,” says Proventia Group president and CEO Jari Lotvonen.

Proventia’s expertise in test systems is the result of lengthy experience in testing engine and emissions technologies at the company’s own engine laboratories. Proventia expanded its operations to modular testing systems in 2015 in order to meet increasing demand for testing in various areas, such as the growing market for electric vehicles and the development of alternative fuels. Earlier, Proventia has productised a testing unit for electric vehicle batteries and the company has already supplied several battery testing units.
