Proventia to expand production in Czech Republic

Proventia, a technology supplier for machine and vehicle industries, will expand the production of its emission control systems by moving its current production facilities in the Czech Republic to a larger premises. The new plant of the Oulu-based company will respond to the growing demand of machine manufacturers as production volumes increase and emission standards tighten.

The new production plant is a significant investment. It will multiply the production capacity of the company and will accelerate the growth of the company's emission reduction business in the coming years. The new plant will have more than 5000 m2 of production space, with 2000 m2 space for expansion. Mass production will commence at the new plant by the end of the year.

“We have signed significant engineering and manufacturing agreements with the world's leading engine and machine manufacturers. Product development projects will progress to mass production as of 2022. As production grows, so will the amount of personnel, especially in the Czech Republic, but the expansion will support the development and growth of Proventia's business as a whole”, emphasises Jari Lotvonen, CEO of Proventia.

“Investment into high-quality mass production will improve our chances to receive new product development projects in the future, which will in turn result in increased design, testing and prototype manufacturing jobs in Finland”, states Lotvonen.

“The Czech Republic is close to our key markets in Europe, which will increase the efficiency of our supply chain. Our central location in the Czech Republic will also allow us to make use of raw materials and component manufacturing in neighbouring countries”, continues Lotvonen.

Proventia's main office is located in Oulu. The company also has a subsidiary in England. The company employs approximately 170 persons in total. The company's turnover was EUR 39.4 million in 2020. In recent years, the company has grown by approximately 40 percent annually.

Ambitious emission reduction goals and energy efficiency will accelerate the development of powertrains for non-road machines, the transition into renewable fuels, and the development of new emission reduction technologies.  Combustion engines will remain the primary power sources in heavy machinery for a long time to come. As hybrid systems continue to become more common, combustion engines are still used as the main power source, but the goal is to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. This means that there will continue to be a demand for emission reduction technologies in the future.
