Proventia NOxBUSTER® City approved for German city bus retrofits

Proventia Oy, as one of the first manufacturers of retrofit exhaust aftertreatment systems, has received the German General Operating Permit (ABE) for its NOxBUSTER® City system. The approval applies to nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction systems for retrofitting diesel city buses in Germany. The certification was issued by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in Germany.

“We are very pleased that we are now able to contribute to improving the air quality in German cities,” said Proventia President and CEO Jari Lotvonen. “We are expecting to receive ABE approvals for our NOxBUSTER® City system for additional makes and models of city buses in the near future,” Lotvonen continues. The Proventia NOxBUSTER City retrofit system has proven to reduce NOx emissions by more than 90% under real driving conditions in city traffic. The system also includes a diesel particulate filter for particulate matter (PM) reduction.

In March this year, the Federal Government took measures to clean the air in German city centres: The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure provided a total of 107 million euros for retrofitting diesel buses in local public transport with nitrogen oxide (NOX) reduction systems. Retrofitting diesel buses was one of the measures used to reduce people’s exposure to NOX emissions.

In Germany, the company BLUEKAT Technologie GmbH in Neustadt (Wied) is the representative and distributor of NOxBUSTER® City systems. “In Proventia, BLUKAT has found an extremely competent partner for sustainable NOX reduction in highly polluted German inner cities,” says Dr Joachim Diringer, Technical Director of BLUKAT GmbH.
