Questions
Retrofitting an emission control system can upgrade the emissions classification of an off-highway machine or heavy-duty vehicle (buses and trucks) up to Stage V or Euro VI standards. During the retrofit, the existing emission control system is replaced with a modern exhaust aftertreatment solution.
A typical retrofit system combines a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. This enables particulate matter (PM) emissions to be reduced by up to 99% and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90%.
Retrofitting allows older machines and vehicles to meet highest emission requirements without replacing the entire fleet. It provides a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new equipment or vehicles while extending the service life of existing assets.
A typical retrofit installation takes 1 to 3 days, depending on the complexity and type of machinery. Compared to the long lead times of new heavy-duty equipment, retrofitting provides a fast way to reduce emissions while keeping machines and vehicles productive.
A properly engineered retrofit system is designed to maintain original engine performance. High-quality solutions such as the Proventia NOxBUSTER® are customized for each application to optimize exhaust flow and minimize back pressure. Engine power and torque remain unchanged under normal operating conditions.
Fuel consumption typically remains stable. SCR-based systems use a small amount of AdBlue® to reduce NOx emissions, usually around 4% to 6% of diesel fuel consumption.
